I {heart} Casement Windows

I just read a post on one of my favorite blogs, Things That Inspire, all about casement windows.  Being a huge fan of these wonderful windows, I couldn’t wait to share with all of you her scrumptious photos.  If you plan on building a home, or remodeling, consider using casement windows.  Being so enamored by these charming windows when  designing the floor plan for my home I actually planned the space around the windows.  I well remember sitting with the Marvin Windows rep in my then store’s bridal dressing room for three hours discussing and planning how to use their windows with my roughly drawn house plans.

{FYI, if you aren’t an architect DON’T  try drawing your own plans.. trust me!}

ok… these LOOK like MY  cabinets, but where’s my casement window over the sink?  I used these windows all through my house, but no window over the sink.  What’s up with that?  Definitely, in my next house.

Speaking of “next house”, in my dreams this is mine.  I LOVE this house.  Notice all the open windows.  This time of year, I open mine constantly.  When I designed my home I made sure to position windows with cross ventilation and  to put removable screens on my casement windows.  It is so easy to just crank them open and enjoy the nice breeze.  Soooo, when I live in this house, I can open my windows all the time.  {A girl can dream, can’t she}.

Love everything about this room.  The washed linen drapery panels, neutral sofas, textured rug and of course, those dreamy windows.

Can’t see the windows very well, but this room is so handsome I just had to show you.

Lunch is served!  Nice breeze from the windows and two adorable pooches for company, what more could you ask for.

Floor to ceiling casements, or almost.  What’s not to love.

Last, but not least…. how much do I love this room?  I mean really… the ceiling, the buffalo plaid fabric in blue and white, the pairs of chairs, the rug…. and of course the WINDOWS!!!

So there you have it… a sampling of delightful casement windows.  Yes, they are a bit more expensive that regular double hung windows, but take it from someone who lives with them… they are well worth it.  Excuse me, but I think I will stop now, crank open my casements and enjoy the fresh fall breezes.   Ahhhhhhh!
