Horseleg Horse Farm

phillips home 049

I have been very blessed to work with a young couple for the past three years on their historic home on Horseleg Creek Road.  The original home dates back to pre Civil War and several additions have been made through the years.  An interesting fact, all the owners of this home have been physicians and their families, including the couple I worked with.  V-3 Magazine did a nice story on my design of this home as well as it’s history,  a couple of months ago.

The living room is the most recently completed space.  This is a wonderful custom made sofa in a very refined, yet comfortable mini quilted fabric.  I love the clean simple lines.  Even though the room is filled with antiques we wanted to bring in a modern touch.    The draperies are created from an exquisite hand printed silk in french blue grey with shades of champagne and taupe.

I also had a comfy club chair custom made.  The antique mirror cocktail table with black and gold base is just the right touch. The dark table base and candlesticks ground the room and give a little pop.  You will notice the beautiful antiques used throughout the home, all inherited by the homeowners.  So lucky… and so perfect for this home.

On the other side, another custom chair in a delicious tone on tone fabric.  This is the first time I have used this chair and I love the shape.

A beautiful center table greets you as you enter this gracious home.

And just across, this oversized silver leaf mirror, the first item in the room which set the stage for all later additions.  Can you say drama!

A view of the exquisite dining table from one of my “secret sources”…just beautiful!  This table was custom made but at a surprisingly fair price.

The draperies were created from dupoini silk with lavish trim.  In both rooms we wanted to use  luxurious  fabric to give an opulent look.  I think we succeeded!

A couple of the finishing touches that give  a room that Perfect Home polish.

And now for a peek at the guest bedroom and office.

I repeated the soft blue from the dining room, but with a touch of green and cream.

My fabulous weathered leather chair!  Perfect tucked into the corner of the office.  This chair is available for special order at an incredible price.

Now let’s visit the great room.

This room needed to be the warm and cozy heart of the home.  A place to kick back and relax.  Most of the original furniture was recovered by my top notch upholstery man.  The asymmetrical  fireplace was a bit of a challenge, but I think we succeeded.

My client changes this out seasonally with great success.

I love to use tufted ottomans for cocktail tables and this is one of my favorites.  Also, the accent chest is a favorite Perfect Home find with painted leather inserts.

You will find the equestrian theme repeated throughout this home, as the lady of the house is an accomplished horsewoman.

This simple roman shade treatment is on of my all time favorites.

How great is this bedding?  We always refer to this as the “horsey” bedroom with it’s delightful bedding and riding ribbons and trophies as decoration.

The master bedroom and bath are still a work in progress so stay tuned for future updates. Also, there are two, yes two, nurseries in the very near future.  One pink, one blue…. can’t wait to start on those!

I hope you have enjoyed touring this captivating “ Horseleg Horse Farm”.  I have certainly enjoyed working with this wonderful couple who I now consider friends.  The sense of accomplishment when a project is finished is wonderful, but friends you make while working on a project is even better!!!
