Evolution of a Room… part three

Just a quick update on the study I have been posting about recently.  The chairs that were special ordered six weeks ago arrived last week.  I placed them a couple of days ago and couldn’t have been more pleased.   I have never been disappointed with this company’s quality and service.  Choose your chair…. choose your fabric… six weeks later, a beautiful new addition to your  home.  What’s not to love?

We chose a very textured creamy neutral with contrast welting in a chocolate brown linen.  The color is actually darker than it shows here.    It is hard to see in the photo, but the chocolate really picks up a brown weave in the fabric.  Can’t beat a traditional club chair for comfort and classic styling.

This is the fabric we are using for two 20x20” pillows… one for each chair.  My client is crazy for this fabric and I think it will bring in that modern vibe we are looking for in this very traditional room.  More fun fabrics to come….

And, our 36” round nail head trimmed leather storage ottoman also arrived!  I have a smaller version at Perfect Home if anyone is interested.  Really a great look at a reasonable price.

This is the Flemish style open bookcase that my client fell in love with at the store.  She saw it before we ever started this room and it was love at first sight.  Not a great photo, but it is very handsome in person.  The lamp is a “no go” since she and I are the only ones digging on it, hubby, not so much.  I like the touch of fun color and style, but the search continues.

This room is beginning to come together.  I hung a few family photos this week and will finish hanging the balance tomorrow.  We are really taking our time with this project.  I sometimes “hunt and gather”  all the elements for a room and then plan on a day or two for installation.  It’s always fun to have a big reveal of the finished room.  That said, I have really enjoyed this process of a piece or two coming in and placing  them in the room.  It’s like your birthday every couple of weeks!  And let’s be honest, that is the way most people decorate.  That’s why I am calling this series of posts, the “evolution of a room” because that is what it truly is.

Lamps, accessories and the pillows are the next steps.  Ahhhh, my favorite part ,  that last layer of luxury, the “jewelry” that adds that special sparkle.  Stay tuned…..

What I’m Lovin’ Today

I find myself drawn periodically to certain colors and nuances in a room, over and over again.  I seem to find a particular combination or contrast of colors always catch my eye when skimming a magazine or design book.  Lately, it is always black and white.  So crisp, so clean, I never tire of this classic combo.   How about a quick look.

Love this!  Even though it may be chocolate brown and white… hard to tell , but let’s call if black and white, shall we?  Notice the painted bookcase and ceiling detail.

Dark rich black walls with bright white doors.  Not too sure about the chairs, but love the walls and chandelier.

There is just something so fresh about white sheer panels on a black metal rod.

OK, not technically black and white, but loving black and tan too!

I even did a black and white area at Perfect Home this summer.

I did an entire post on this room earlier, I love it soooo much.  I have similar pictures to these at Perfect Home and would love to use them in this way.

Ooooohhhh!  Dove grey walls with black silk panels and grey and white chairs.  The jade green decorative accents are the perfect touch.

OK, so maybe I’m loving black and white and grey.  This is so chic. Notice the little touches of pale blue on pillows and the garden seat.  I just received a desk {not this dressy, but similar shape}  that I can’t wait to place in a loving home.  Desks can be used in more than just an office.  I have one beside my bed.  So practical and pretty.

This is the photo I first ran across that inspired me today.  I’m crazy about the high contrast of all the black and white variations.  Lampshade.. check.  Pillow… check.  Throw…. check.  Ottoman.. check.  Even the nail head detailing on the sofa brings out the contrast of light vs.. dark.

So there you have it, my homage to black and white.  Ebony and Ivory… I think there is a song in there somewhere.  What do you think, the stark contrast of B/W?  Does it reach out and pull you in, or just leave you cold?  Let me know, leave me a comment.   Just curious.

Out with the prom…. in with the home!

Well, prom season is over for another year!  As most of the readers of this blog know, I have been, first in the wedding business and now continuing with  prom, since 1978!!!!   How did that happen???  It seems like only yesterday that I opened  The Wedding Belle.  Talk about time flying.  Anyway, I digress.  Since I don’t have to share part of Perfect Home with Perfect Prom for the second half of the year, this is always an exciting time to  restage the store with lots of new merchandise.  Thought you might enjoy a blog tour of our new summer set up.

Jill, my right hand girl and Kristy, one of my sales reps unloading a van of furniture from Old South Accents.

We even enlisted the help of good ol’ Tim, the guy who keeps my windows sparkly clean.

Jill, doing her thing in the garden room.  Even though she left me for law school and is getting married in July, I can sometimes coax her into coming back to help.  Lordy, do I miss the girl!!!

Jill, showing off all her hard work while modeling one of our Glory B Hats made from paper bags!!!   More about a spring garden party with those later.

I hope you enjoyed this online tour of  Perfect Home after we twirled it for summer.  I will be heading off to market in a few weeks to buy lots of new items that will begin arriving in July/August.    Can’t wait to see what treasures I find.  I will really be stocking up for the rest of the year.  Please come by soon and see all we have  “in store”  for you.

Wishing you a delightful summer.
